In a dilemma on where to stay in Wildwood Crest this year. Usually stay at the Regal Plaza, and have been quite happy there, but we want to go a week later this year than usual (usually go mid-June, are trying for the week of the 21st this year). Sick of the freezing pool at the Regal, and the ';iffiness'; of the weather. Rained and was cold all week the second to last time we were there. This is the timeframe where most places seem to be transitioning to their in-season rates, but the Regal%26#39;s rate jumps higher proportionally than many, and we can%26#39;t afford the rate. So, are looking around. Called the Singapore %26amp; the lady I talked to was very nice, but the rates seem way too low for that timeframe, and the reviews on TripAdvisor are horrid. Next looking at Royal Hawaiian--bad reviews, too. We%26#39;re on a tight budget, but the kids want to be right on the beach, and we want to be in the Crest. The further away from the Boardwalk, the better. We stay in the Crest because we don%26#39;t like the noise and hustle-bustle up at the Boardwalk.
I%26#39;d try the Gondolier, but seems too close to the Boardwalk for comfort. Looks like a nice place, though, and reviews are great!
Anybody have any suggestions for a reasonably priced place in late June that%26#39;s on the beach and is just basic, clean accommodations? Nothing fancy, but at least comfortable.
Are the Royal Hawaiian %26amp; Singapore as bad as their reviews?
I have stayed at both of them.. the Singapore is a DUMP!!!! The royal Hawaiian gets a bad rap, and I am not quite sure why. We loved the RH, had a blast, room was spotless, no smell, pool was great and you can%26#39;t beat the location. We stayed last July, and the time we were there, the cops were at the singapore 4 times!!!! I have been going to WW for 25 years, and I have stayed in alot of Motels.. you really can%26#39;t beat the RH.. I will be going again this year.

Are the Royal Hawaiian %26amp; Singapore as bad as their reviews?
Hey, Dee, thanks! Fortunately, we were able to book the Regal at a special ';returning customer'; deal they have. (It isn%26#39;t on their web site, and for which my husband didn%26#39;t ask when he called. I called and asked about it, and they were more than happy to give it!)
We%26#39;ll keep the RH in mind, though, for future trips. We would like another good alternative to the Regal, and though the kids love it there, DH %26amp; I are ready for someplace different. I knew someone who stayed at the RH a few years ago and loved it, so I was very surprised to see the reviews here.
We have been staying at the Singapore for 40 years and never had a problem. It was run down for a while however the owners have been making huge improvements every year. Our party has a total of 15 rooms and never had a problem with any of the rooms!! The prices are low because you are going before the season. The season starts the weekend of July 4 through Sept. 4. The pool is large and heated. The owners allow you to use the pool all hours as long as you don%26#39;t distrub the rest of the guests. We meet people every year that used to stay at the Royal Hawaiian and came over to the Singapore. Bottom Line, It is not the Hampton Inn. It is a jersey shore hotel. But I will tell you that the owners are germ-a-phobes and are constantly cleaning. The only complaint I have is that when I first walk into my room, The smell of bleach is a bit overwhemling. But thats ok with me.
