beaches

We will be travelling to Cape May at the end of June and staying on Franklin St. Could someone tell me the closest beach? And the nicest beach in this area? What are the goods and bads of different beaches in the area?

Do you have to have a beach pass for all beaches? If so where do you get them and can you buy these ahead of time?

Thanks,

The entire strand of beaches along Cape May%26#39;s southern, or Atlantic Ocean side is really superb. In the Franklin Street area (about two blocks south of Franklin) is the Howard Street and Franklin Street Beaches. For a little more privacy, you can walk a block eastward to Queen St Beach.

Both are within walking distance for you. If you%26#39;re looking for a little more privacy, you can either go to the Delaware Bay side near Cape May Point or to Higbee Beach on the northwestern portion of the island. All beaches in Cape May require a permit for visitors over 12, except Higbee and Sunset Beach (not a good beach for sunbathing).

You can either purchase your tag at the beach when you visit, or purchase season passes ahead of time.

Daily $4.00

3-Day $9.00

Weekly (Sat - Sat) $13.00

Depending on how long you will be staying, the season tags may or may not be cheaper. Here%26#39;s the info for the season passes-

Beach tags are available for purchase, in person, at the City Hall Tax Office, located at

643 Washington Street, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday, excluding Holidays.

The in-person per tag costs for a Seasonal Tag are as follow:

$25.00 beginning April 1

A maximum of five (5) seasonal tags, per season, per individual, can be purchased.

Up to five (5) Seasonal Tags, per season, per individual, can also be ordered by mail.

The mail order per tag cost for a Seasonal Tag are as follow:

$25.75 beginning April 1

To order, send check, made out to City of Cape May, and mail to -

beaches

Good Evening,

Please see my post regarding the beach tag prices. I got the prices delivered to me by City Hall since I work at the Front Desk of an oceanfront property.. I think Ben have last years prices. My thread has the times of day you will need them and where they can be purchased.

The closest beach would be Franklin the the Beach. This is pretty popular beach area. If you make a right when you get to beach av and go down by 1st av or Patterson, the beach is wider and seems less crowded. It would be best to drive as it is about and 8 block walk from the beachfront. All the beaches are beautiful and well maintained. Enjoy Cape May.

Pat

Holy moly! Pat is totally right, it seems that a few of the prices I quoted are wrong. I%26#39;m really sorry about that. I looked at the wrong reference and as Pat eluded to, I gave you last year%26#39;s prices.

I%26#39;m really sorry about that. I should have suggested you look at Pat%26#39;s earlier beach tag topic in the first place.

Again, my apologies.
