We are planning to visit Atlantic City this summer (August) for my daughter%26#39;s birthday. This will be our first trip to AC with my grandson, who will be almost 5. Besides spending most of the day on the beach and/or pool, what else can I plan on doing that will be kid-friendly? I%26#39;ve been to AC twice before, but this is first time with a child. I%26#39;m guessing walking the boardwalk, chasing ses gulls, riding in the ';buggies'; will keep him amused, but I%26#39;d appreciate suggestions for other activities I might not be familiar with. I plan on spending the majority of the day/evening with K.C. (my grandson) so that my daughter has plenty of free time (ain%26#39;t I a good mom?) LOL.... We will have a car, I thought driving to see Lucy the Elephant might be fun. Thanks in advance for your help. And any suggestions for family, cheaper, local restaurants would be helpful, too, as the casino restaurants tend to be pricey.
On the Boardwalk...me and my grandson...
You can visit the Aquarium, walk around in the Caesars mall, the Trop has an IMAX movie theater and they have a place located on the boardwalk that serves pizza and hot dogs. The Trump Plaza has a Nathan%26#39;s right on the boardwalk.
On the Boardwalk...me and my grandson...
Don%26#39;t forget the water show at the end of the pier at caesars
No suggestions as I%26#39;ve found the beach with buckets/shovels/toys, lots of sunscreen an umbrella, juice more than enough entertainment for a little one. What fun he will have! If you have a fridge in your room, you can have PB and J, veggies and fruit on the beach as a picnic.
I%26#39;m not one to recommend chains, but I like the brightness of Johnny Rockets. Have a blast and take lots of pics!
Watch out for those AC seagulls. The last time I was there (a month ago), they were chasing me.
Of course, it%26#39;s more crowded now so they may not be as hungry and aggresive (they were swooping down and stealing food right out of people%26#39;s hands).
As for family friendly restaurants--the new Nathans is good (as someone mentioned). It%26#39;s a combination of Nathans and Arthur Treachers (and Haagen Daz, too, I think). They seemed to have some really nice sandwiches as well.
And I like Corky%26#39;s at the Trop for barbeque. Your grandson might find that interesting.
Enjoy!
Consider going to Ocean City%26#39;s boardwalk, lots of rides and mini golf for small children. Also off shore on route 322 about 15 miles from AC is a great place for small chidren called storybook land.

there are go carts at the central pier, there is an arcade on the boardwalk somewhere by the trop, also mini golf at Kennedy plaza ( by boardwalk hall)
Less expensive restaurants:
by The Walk, Tun Tavern www.tuntavern.com Los Amigos http://www.losamigosrest.com/AC/ Cavo Crepe Cafe http://www.cavocrepecafe.com/
By Trop, Tony%26#39;s Baltimore Grill [best pizza] www.baltimoregrill.com/
by Bally%26#39;s, Bill%26#39;s Gyros 1607 Boardwalk
For inexpensive beach toys %26amp; umbrellas try Peanut World 1645 Boardwalk [at Illinois Ave aka MLK]
just want to add Smithville http://www.smithvillenj.com/ for unique shops, radio controlled boats, paddleboats %26amp; a train ride
The rair forest cafe is great for kids. Try taking a ride on the rolling chairs bargin for price for the ride.
Thanks for all the great suggestions, everyone.
Follow-up questions:
Where is the rain forest cafe?
Where is Central Pier?
We%26#39;re really looking forward to this vacation, 73 days and counting...
And by the way, I understand about the seagull warning... LOL... my daughter had an unfortunate sea gull incident at Caesars pool a few years ago--he zoomed down and stole a hot dog right out of her hand--she%26#39;s still leery about birds in general.
The rainforest cafe is at Trump Plaza and Central Pier is near Tennessee Ave, 1400 Boardwalk.
