Caught this on the Borgata E-mail this morning describing the new restaurant, FORNELLETTO.
Does anyone here think the two should NOT be combined?
Does anyone here know WTH they%26#39;re talking about?
I%26#39;m guessing a sinkhole and a small ostrich? LOL
(Yes, I KNOW I can Google it, but I%26#39;m just curious to know how many of you already KNOW what this means)
Very cool newsletter, BTW.
enoteca and an osteria
I think this is illegal in several states although California teaches it in public schools.
enoteca and an osteria
I only know that %26#39;osteria%26#39; is a restaurant or inn... but give it a while before you answer so some posters can wake up [like our resident MENSA member]
Enoteca is just what it sounds like - a place where wine is sold (like biblioteca, but with bottles instead of books). An osteria is the least fancy of the ristorante, trattoria, osteria hierarchy.
A forneletto is a bit more problematic - it%26#39;s a small cooking device. I%26#39;ve heard it used for camp stoves, those little heaters used under chafing dishes, and even a laboratory Bunsen burner.
Thanks RShip! No, I did not just wake up - just took me that long to get here. I%26#39;ve been awake since noon, lol. In my defense, tho, I didn%26#39;t crash until 6am.
Enough prattle - enoteca I knew (wine depository) because an uppity friend bragged about building one in his basement and I had to ask the difference between that and a biblioteca. Latin roots - eno, biblio. Of course, I didn%26#39;t know eno was wine, I thought that was vino, but it was interesting.
The other sounded familiar and I discovered why - I%26#39;ve been there! There%26#39;s an Osteria in Philly - they call themselves that, but the menu and pricing don%26#39;t reflect it - I bet the same will be true of the Borgata. Link here: philafoodie.blogspot.com/2007/04/osteria.html Google Osteria and one of the first results will be the restaurant in Philadelphia.

This sounds like something I would hear about in the E.R.
I got the enoteca but can%26#39;t help wondering why they just don%26#39;t call it snoboteca. Tut tut!
