Trip to Trump Marina 6/1 -6/2 (quick and short)

We decided to make a short overnight run to A/C and booked a suite at the Marina. Writing this TR after a few hours sleep and a month of days at work so here it goes.

Arrived by 11:45 and checked in to a corner suite with nice city view. The safe was locked again so dropped off a few items in my sister%26#39;s room.

Made the 12:15 Poker tournament at Taj after dropping the car off quickly with Valet. Only 30 other players in the game so it seemed like a winter day. Out on the casino floor the tables were busy.

DH had a good run in the Poker room while my sister and I checked out the slots. Found a few new games to try out but no luck.

Fair amount of people walking the boardwalk for a Monday. Stopped by the Plaza to play and check out any new slots. Drink service was quick but still no hits to write home about.

Returned to the Marina near 4 to check out the casino and found machines were caution taped or turned off. We hit the BJ tables for a few hours then DJ%26#39;s Steakhouse....nice dinner of crabcakes and salad. Next stop was to use up slot dollars and play some cards. The employees chatted about the sale of the casino failing and a feeling of limbo. On Monday I couldn%26#39;t hit a bonus on a slot no made what machine I tried.

I stopped by Trump One services to update my card and DH was upgraded to the next level even though he was 1500 short. We found a few others who jumped to the next level without the points. Last minute gift by the casino?

In the morning we went to eat breakfast at the Cafe but it was closed for breakfast until Friday. The casino floor was busy but not with customers but workers removing over 160 slots. The noise of drilling and cutting down the built up cabinets made the trip shorter. After using my slot bucks and finally seeing a good bonus on the Live Lobsters Dance Nightly we were ready to head home. DH found 9/6 VP machines up in the front and played for a few hours. He locked up a machine when he was cashing out, it said hand payout by attendant. A worker came by and laughed and raised his hands and said ';remember to tell your family and friends about the big win at the Trump Marina';....all 15 cents of the payout.

The Dirty Harry slots and many others were being carted off the floor. One of employees who has know us for the past 5 years chatted that if the Marina made it through the summer months he didn%26#39;t have much hope for a job in the fall. The casino floor was looking abit empty and sad at the same time.

I do wonder what the future holds for the casino.

WIth the lack of newer slots and closed off restaurants during the summer week a new home for playing maybe coming for us.

Good Luck!

Trip to Trump Marina 6/1 -6/2 (quick and short)

Although I%26#39;ve never been a fan of Trump Marina, your report still made me sad. Especially for the employees - it can%26#39;t be comforting seeing slot machines taken away.

Here%26#39;s to better days ahead!

Trip to Trump Marina 6/1 -6/2 (quick and short)

Love those Live Lobsters! Hope they won%26#39;t be removed any time soon.

It is sad for all the employees who have such an uncertain future. And for AC, because a Margaritaville-themed casino would definitely be an interesting addition to the Marina sida.

Maybe all the removed slots will be replaced by some of the newer ones that have been installed at the Taj. It%26#39;s a shame you happened to be there during the changeover activities. But congrats to DH on the upgrade!

Thanks for the TR. Trump Marina is one of the casinos I have never visited/stayed in, but it was a regular destination for a local bus company-- a monthly trip my mother rarely missed. She loved it there.

I am hoping the card upgrades for members and the slot machine removal ( to be replaced by newer slots??) is a signal for a new phase of marketing.

Hope they find their right market. Thanks for sharing your TR.

eventhough our base casino is harrahs,we always enjoyed walking over to the marina and giving them some play. one of my fondest memories there was one day when we were pretty close to leaving my wife disapeared for over an hour,.meanwhile i hit twice on some 25 cent slots for 696 and another 450 during that time span,my wife finally showed expecting to find me annoyed since i wanted to go due to loosing, what happened was she was buying some bracelet at one of those kiosk near the players club and had to help the por woman working it ,put paper in her cc machine . so in the end we were all happy, i was ahead, wife had a bracelet and the employee didnt get yelled at by her boss for not knowing how to change the paper

sad situation all around blackjack. i know you are one of the few big fans of trump marina, and i like it too. odd how they arent doing well, the slots always seem busy, must be the lack of big fish .

also maybe its the non gaming parts that they need to improve, like the dining and shops? the employees always seemed nice and drink service for us was always very fast.

Ive always played at the Trop and sometimes the Hilton but after a bad experience at the Trop, I switched to the Marina in April, and i absolutely love it there. The customer service and friendliness of everyone there doesnt even compare to the Trop.

I have my fingers crossed for all of them, i hope it works out.

We also hope things work out for the Marina.Like was said,a NICE friendly place to Stay%26amp;Play!!!

same here. never stayed there but as i said we enjoyed giving them some play and found the customer service very good. hope they figure a way out to hang in there. nice tr btw blackjack

Hey Blackjack. Nice report. It%26#39;s always good to sneak away during the week for a quickie if you will. It is sad to hear about the restaurants not being open and the place being empty. Hard to get a crowd and keep a crowd when nothing is open. I%26#39;ve been visiting the Marina since their buffet was $5.95. I used to bring the family by boat to eat and gamble there. The marina is top shelf. I%26#39;ve seen some great shows there as well as having some great meals at High Steaks. The rooms were always nice and the employees have always been friendly.

I was there the afternoon the sale to Coastal was announced and they were all excited. I guess they were told that Coastal would retain the employees currently working there. Jokes of coconut bra%26#39;s and grass skirts were everywhere. That is one thing that the Marina needs and that%26#39;s a new look. However, with Trump in bankruptcy it%26#39;s not going to happen.

Since they are competing with the slot parlors in PA, why don%26#39;t they loosen the slots and advertise heavily about the looser slots and better playing times and paybacks. Bring back a $10 or $12 buffet and see what happens. People are saying why drive all the way to AC to lose my money when I can drive a half hour to a slot parlor. I know a few people who have stopped going to AC because of that. Give them a good gamble and good meal and see what happens. What have they got to lose.

I was at the Marina Sunday thru Tuesday and couldn%26#39;t hit a thing. I%26#39;m a frequent player there.I have my chairman card for a few years. I love the small and eeasy way to get around the casino. I am not a fan of mega resorts. The only thing mega i like is a win LOL However on this trip couldn%26#39;t hit much to save my life and this is pretty consistent. I go frequently on day trips ,overnight and can%26#39;t do much of anything. It is no longer an enjoyable outing when you lose. I will probably cut back on my trips considerably since it%26#39;s a losing proposition. I may try Bethlehem which would be closer for me. About an hour closer. I think you will see casinos closing after the summer. The Marina was virtually empty on Tuesday and I played the same machines over the three days to see if they would loosen up. Very little and It didn%26#39;t matter what the bet was high or low. I don%26#39;t know how the casinos managed to make a profit in the old days and have the machines pay out jackpots with a lot more frequency than these days. Maybe they ought to rethink their stragtgies.
