Seven-hour EWR layover -- Ellis Island possible??

Hi all, and thank you for your help!

We (BF and myself) will be flying on Continental from Canada into EWR in August, and have a 7 1/2 hour layover there. We are wondering about the logistics of possibly taking a cab from EWR to Liberty State Park, ferry to Ellis Island (maybe Statue if we have time), and get back to get to our plane. I am unfamiliar with EWR, but am assuming that even after customs, security, etc., we will have a good chunk of time to fill. Is this possible? Is it a good plan to go through Liberty State Park or would some other route to Ellis Island be a better option? How much time to allow at Ellis Island?

Thanks again!

Take a cab to Liberty Park%26#39;s marina and take the water taxi to Manhattan and then back. This will give you great views of the Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island.

In my opinion, that is all the time you have.

You don%26#39;t really have 7.5 hours layover.

You have 5.5 - 6.5 depending on your outbound flight assuming your inbound flight is on time.

Lines for the ferry to Ellis Island and Liberty Island gets lengthy during summer months.

A 7 hour layover gives you maybe 4 hours to do anything. However depending on where in Canada you%26#39;r coming from you might go through U.S customs in Canada before boarding the plane. The cab to the Water taxi sounds like a good idea. Here are a few links.
