We are looking for a great lunch spot n the way to cape May. We would prefer it on the beach somewhere. Good food would be a plus but looking for atmosphere.
Great lunch spot on the way to Cape May
Try the Crab Trap in Somers Point (about one mile off of Parkway exit 30 if you are going south, exit 29 if you are going north).
It%26#39;s not on the beach but they have an outside deck overlooking the bay and the Ocean City skyline.
I had a great crab cake sandwich there yesterday.

Why not wait until you are almost on the island and stop at Lucky Bones? It%26#39;s across the main bridge, but just before the smaller one that takes you to the island. You will not regret the wait...

Thanks all. We%26#39;re planning on going to Lucky bones while we are at Cape May. We were just thinking we would like to have lunch somewhere on the way down that is preferably outside with a view. We are traveling from NW NJ. Crab Trap sounds like it fills the bill. Any other suggestions? How about the new Beach bar in Asbury Park?
Harborview is just before Cape May. Take last exit off Garden State Parkway. Stay to the left and turn left at traffic light. Harborview is on the right about 1/2 mile. It has indoor and outdoor seating and is located in a marina. Very nice for lunch. Asbury Park is a million miles from Cape May.
PS: It is on Ocean Drive
Although I have never been I have heard very good things about Antoinetta%26#39;s in Eagleswood @ exit 63 on the GSP. Not on the beach , but on the bay and the views are supposedly very nice. They have a website.
I enjoy stopping at the Deauville Inn between Ocean City and sea Isle -- great water view and food.
We used to share your desires. Every year, we trek down to the Cape from Glenwood and for years we did the same thing you%26#39;re doing - search for a nice place to eat on the way down. And then two years ago, it finally dawned on us. Most hotels have a 2-3 p.m. check in. Since we go down on Friday, we leave an hour early (bout 9;30 a.m) and have lunch in Cape May around 1:30 - Lucky Bones is a good choice, but for overlooking the beach, we have lunch at McGlade%26#39;s behind Morrow%26#39;s Nut House. If the weather is nice and the flaps are up, a rail side table can%26#39;t be beat overlooking the beach and the ocean.
Whatever your choice, enjoy.
Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. Where in Cape May is McGlades? How is the food. I guess it all depends on when we leave for the trip. If we leave early enough we just may wait till we get to cape may, if later we will stop along the way. Would love to check out Long Beach as well. We have never been there-heard it was nice.
Mc Glade%26#39;s is right next to the Convention Center on the Boardwalk, behind Morrow%26#39;s Nut House. If you look atop Morrow%26#39;s, there%26#39;s a sign pointing the way. We really enjoy the Mc Glade omelets (a lot of different ones) and their sides dishes are mostly fruit (Melon slices, etc.). They have a pretty standard lunch menu with a few wrinkles (the Hot Pepper Cheese burger is a favorite for those who like a little spice).
One note of caution about Mc Glade%26#39;s - it usually shuts at 2:30 pm. and reopens at about 5 for dinner in season. So I would plan accordingly if you feel this is an alternative for you.
