Where to stay near Memorial Field, Cape May Courthouse

Me, wife and daughter will be taking our son to the junior olympic track %26amp; field championships, June 13-14, and we%26#39;re looking for somewhere to stay overnight and maybe the night before too. It%26#39;s being held at Memorial Field, Cape May Courthouse. I%26#39;ve never been to Cape May before but have wanted to for many years.

Any suggestions on where to stay? Ideally, we would all like to fit in the same room (eg, 2 kings or 2 queens + fold-out-bed or cot) and would like to keep it under 150/night.

Also, suggestions on good, local, non-chain family restaurants are welcome

First off, congrats for your kids. It sounds like a great event and I%26#39;m sure they worked hard to make it to the championships!

Cape May Courthouse is a bit north of the island, but might I suggest staying on the Cape and travelling back and forth from the championships? There is plenty for the kids to do in Cape May, the scenery is wonderful and you will have a really nice vacation during your off-time. I%26#39;m not so sure about under $150 a night though...

One suggestion that might be great for you is at Summer Station, which is a Condotel and offers two-bedroom condos with full kitchens. It will make feeding your family much less expensive than eating out each mean and the seperate bedrooms will be nice. An inexpensive hotel option (by Cape May standards) is the Victorian Motel. It%26#39;s right in the middle of everything and there is a nice pool scene for the kids.

Some other great family hotels I%26#39;d recommend in Cape May (oeanfront) are the Grand Hotel, La Mer, Camelot, Atlas, Montreal Inn and Avondale.

There are actually a ton of Cape May hotels, your best bet might be to check out www.capemay.com and check them all out for yourself.

thanks for that info, modernphoenixv2.

My son isn%26#39;t running until Sunday (early) so we%26#39;ll just be needing a room Saturday and we%26#39;re still trying to figure out whether we should all go down or not

It%26#39;s been suggested that North Wildwood is a better option just because of traffic %26amp; distance, but I%26#39;m having trouble getting a room for June 13 (in either Cape May Courthouse or in North Wildwood)

Any thoughts on another town, away from the beach area, more inland and north, but no more than, say 15-20 min from Cape May Courthouse? I don%26#39;t know this area at all. In other words, a less popular area, but still reasonably close to Cape May Courthouse

Have you tried looking in Stone Harbor and Avalon? They%26#39;re both on the shore and are closer to Memorial Field than Cape May is.

A motel option in Cape May Court House is the Hy-Land Motor Inn, which is just off the Parkway around milepost 9.5. I don%26#39;t know what kind of reviews it gets, but it%26#39;s close to Memorial Field.

Thanks, traveler. Hyland has no availability that day

I would also look in Stone Harbor or Avalon. The Lark Motel in Stone Harbor is basic, clean and centrally located. 609-368-2500. www.larkmotel.coom. There are others that are probably a bit more $$,

Also Cape May Courthouse has some campground, including cabin rental that may be fun option. See: http://www.bigtimberlake.com/cabins.htm. A Google search shows others in the area as well.
