My husband and I will be going up for his 50th class reunion. The events will be mostly in the Neptune area (so suggestions don%26#39;t have to be limited to Ocean Grove), but we both like this town so much.
However, we will be staying about a week so cost is a factor. All suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks!

Dear Rehn,
There are so many places, if you are there for a week, make sure they have a great porch, discount beach badges and beach towels so you don%26#39;t have to worry about the wet mess. Also, if you can get a place close enough to not have to move your car much, it would be best! You can save a little with a shared bath over a private and if you book early you should be able to get a great place. www.oceangrovenj.com for a list of all the inns and prices. Don%26#39;t forget to get your tickets to the Great Auditorium shows while you are in town.
Enjoy your trip!

I think we%26#39;ll book at the Quaker Inn soon. For one thing they have a weekly rate and we%26#39;ll be there at least that long. It turns out that we%26#39;ll be there the last week of July and the first week of August which is a period with a lot of activities going on. The inn also has individual a/c units which is important to us. My husband has cancer and a/c gives him serious chest pain.
In four weeks we%26#39;ll hear whether the med he%26#39;s on is working. It is the last option we know about. He is feeling fairly well and hasn%26#39;t had the most serious side effects for this med.
But you have to have things to look forward to. I can%26#39;t say that we should wait and see. We are both thinking positive thoughts.
The innkeeper was very nice and it seems likely that if we do have to cancel, they will be able to rebook the room. Airfares are a different story. Have to think about strategies there.
Thank you for replying. I appreciate it so much.
It sounds like you are thinking as positive as possible... Wishing you much prayers answered for your husband and hoping all works out for the best! And don%26#39;t forget to get your tickets to one of the shows at the Great Auditorium, only steps from the hotel. Also you have to stop into Days Ice Cream just across the street. Best around.
If you haven%26#39;t booked yet I would definitely recommend the Ocean Grove Plaza. (I posted a review).
It is a really, really great Inn for you and your husband.
We did already book, but thanks for the recommendation. If the Quaker Inn is homey and quiet and clean, we%26#39;ll be fine.
We got the test results back ten days ago and are so happy. 50% less cancer is a good result for the four months of side effects. We know he%26#39;ll have to go back on it again, but we hope we%26#39;ll be able to do the trip in late July. At least all the pain and sickness was worth it. We do have hope that he%26#39;ll eventually be in remission. His chest is much better; there are dramatically fewer nodules in his lungs and the mass of lymph nodes is half the size so maybe planes and a/c won%26#39;t be as painful for him.
Thanks to all who posted. I appreciate you.

Hi! I just happened to see your posts for Ocean Grove. I visit there often with my family and friends. I only stay at the Quaker Inn. It is very very clean, quiet, and right in town. You will love it there. There will be the Bridgefest festival at the end of July; 24th and 25th, and concerts the begining of August. I know, because I will be staying at the Quaker Inn then also, as well as in mid June. You will enjoy your stay there - I have no doubt. May God Bless You and All You Hold Dear -
rehn - Since you are likely flying out of Fort Myers, check out Spirit Air to ACY. They sometimes run some really cheap specials, especially if your travel dates are flexible. We just returned from visiting Mom in Naples, we really love it down there. Best wishes for both of you, you will have a wonderful time with old friends in NJ -- get some of that good Atlantic ocean air, it does wonders for a soul. Stay Strong!

Bless you both!
Don and I are looking forward to the trip. Don will have had a follow-up cat scan just before we go. I have to get all my work done ahead for the weeks we%26#39;ll be gone so, as usual, I%26#39;ll be flying tired.
When you get good news, you somehow think things will be wonderful -- and they are, but the other problems you had before the med are still there, too. The trip will be a good chance to get further away from on-going family upsets. (Now if I could just ditch his cell phone....)
We%26#39;re looking forward to the peace and charm of Ocean Grove.
Ruth
Dear rehn,
Prior to the first time I took my husband to Ocean Grove, his cell phone was stuck to his ear! We couldn%26#39;t even have a peaceful dinner at home without interruptions from customers. You would have thought going to O.G. was going to be such a ';bother'; for him - until he got there. I also told him how he wouldn%26#39;t move the car for the weekend - he couldn%26#39;t grasp that concept either.(suggesting he would never be able to relax there)! Well, that was about 5 years ago! I am happy to report from the first touch of the sand on his toes - he never, ever answered his cell ,or felt anything but peace while we were there, and happily shuts all electronic gear off when we reach O.Grove each and every time.
May God Bless You and All You Hold Dear -
MaryAnn (I Love Jesus)
