Do You Remember the Aqua Show?

Ok, this is going way back - but does anybody remember the ';Aqua Show'; ?? It was held at a large pool just off the boardwalk.. There were women called ';Aqua Dancers'; ( I believe) who put on a lovely show right in the pool... They also had a diving show.. The divers climbed those really high skinny ladders up to the top, and then did all kinds of flips, turns, %26amp; dives... I was trying to find some photos of the Aqua Show on-line, but I can%26#39;t seem to find any information at all about it.... I was a child back in the 70%26#39;s and that would have been the time-frame when we used to go to the show!

Do You Remember the Aqua Show?

yes, i do. it was called the aqua circus and was held at sportland pool. bob maxwell was the announcer, and i remember one of the high divers was jim coffey. the highlight of the show was the sponge plunge, diving into a giant sponge surrounded by spears. the dancers were called aquamaids, and the clowns were aquqmaniacs. i am amazed that i remember all of this, as the show was really pretty corny, but as a kid, i just loved it.

Do You Remember the Aqua Show?

You are right! As a former Aquamaid married to a high diver/spong diver/ fire diver, I have many fond memories of performing in the Aqua Circus put on by Bob and Norma Maxwell in the Sportsman Pool. We Aquamaids also bounced on the trampoline out in front to attract more audience.

I must have swam there in 1971 and 1972.

Oh my goodness Aquamaid, thank you so much for writing!! I was only 3 years old in 1971 but I remember going to the show several years in a row when my parents took me to Wildwood.. I always said I wanted to live in Wildwood and be an Aquamaid!! LOL.. That is so cute that you are married to a diver.. I miss that show and I miss those simple days ';down the shore';.. Thanks for sharing!

That brings back memories............ I remember the great high diver Rick White performing there back in the late 60%26#39;s, diving from at least 80ft abover the small pool. It was amazing!
